Yang Terampas dan Yang Putus (literally: "The Seized and the Broken") is the second section of Chairil Anwar’s 1949 anthology, published together with Kerikil Tajam by Pustaka Rakjat. Comprising around 11 poems written in the final years of his life, this collection offers a more subdued and introspective tone. The title poem itself has often been interpreted as a quiet foreshadowing of his early death.
These poems explore loss, resignation, and the fragile line between defiance and surrender. While still carrying Chairil’s signature intensity, they are marked by deeper melancholy and a sharpened sense of finality. Together with Kerikil Tajam, this collection completes the core body of work released during Chairil Anwar’s lifetime and remains essential to understanding the evolution of modern Indonesian poetry.
